The ninth Gorgoroth album, "Quantos Possunt ad Satanitatem Trahunt", has now been completed. The album was recorded in Tomas Asklund's Monolith Studio, and features Infernus on guitars, Frank Watkins on bass, Pest on vocals and Tomas Asklund on drums. Since Infernus wrote all the music for the album and extensive rehearsals and a pre-recording had also been made before second guitarist Tormentor re-joined the band last year, it was decided that it would be more convenient for Infernus to record all the guitars on the album. The album is produced by Infernus and co-produced/engineered by Tomas Asklund. It will be mastered at Cutting Room Studios in Stockholm in July. It will be released in Europe by Regain Records on October 21st and in the US on November 11th.
"Quantos Possunt ad Satanitatem Trahunt" - tentative track listing:
1. Introibo ad Alatare Satanas
2. Aneuthanasia
3. Prayer
4. Rebirth

Gorgoroth has recently spent time at Threeman Recordings in Stockholm with Nico Elgstrand (Entombed), where, among other things, Pest has successfully replaced the vocals for the 'True Norwegian Black Metal' album. Infernus has already consulted legal representatives regarding this album, and is prepared to support Regain Records in the label's ongoing legal conflict with two of the band's ex-members, if any such support is needed.

Gorgoroth will not be playing at "Unholy Fest" in the Czech Republic on July 24, despite this being reported both on the festival's official website and elsewhere. No deal was ever finalized for the band to play at the festival. The band tried for a long time to negotiate with the promoters to make the festival appearance happen, but negotiations went nowhere due to a lack of communication from the promoters. No deal was ever settled, and Gorgoroth will therefore NOT appear at the festival.

After a two-year absence from the live arena, Gorgoroth will once again perform their Satanic rituals on stage on August 29, 2009. Gorgoroth will then headline the last night of the 10th anniversary Hole in the Sky Metal Festival in Bergen, Norway, with none other than US doom legends Pentagram as co-headliners! More info on the festival can be found at www.holeinthesky.no. This exclusive Gorgoroth concert will be held in tribute of the band's former drummer Erik "Grim" Brødreskift (1966-1999). The setlist will include classic songs from the legendary "Pentagram" album - not played live for 12 years - and perhaps also brand new material from the upcoming album, "Quantos Possunt ad Satanitatem Trahunt". If and when any other Gorgoroth live appearances this summer are confirmed, they will be made public here on the official website.
The recording of Gorgoroth's new studio album "Quantos Possunt ad Satanitatem Trahunt" is progressing according to schedule, with a tentative October 2009 release date. The album will be released by Regain Records.
A new official Gorgoroth MySpace profile is now under construction, and can be found at www.myspace.com/gorgoroth

Oslo City District Court has today delivered a verdict on the main question in the Gorgoroth trademark case, which took place at the end of January 2009. The court has decided that King ov Hell's trademark registration # 243365 of the band name Gorgoroth is NOT valid and shall therefore be deleted. The court states that King ov Hell and Gaahl excluded themselves from the band Gorgoroth when they tried to fire Infernus in October 2007. The court further states that Infernus cannot be excluded from Gorgoroth, unless he himself decides to quit. Infernus is very pleased, but not surprised, by this verdict. The remaining issues concerning financial matters and such are yet to be decided upon.

Infernus' Gorgoroth line-up is now complete, and the new vocalist is none other than the legendary Pest - back at last after an 11 year hiatus from the band. The 2008 incarnation of Gorgoroth thus consists of Pest (vocals), Infernus (guitars), Tormentor (guitars), Frank Watkins (bass) and Tomas Asklund (drums).
As for the work on the new album, "Quantos Possunt ad Satanitatem Trahunt", it is going ahead more or less as scheduled, but due to the upcoming trial in Oslo in January 2009, the guitar recordings will be slightly postponed. The album will contain eight tracks of Infernus' signature aural evil, and will be released in 2009 on Regain Records. Fear the return!

Infernus filed a lawsuit against King ov Hell in September this year, on the basis of King ov Hell (the 6th bass player in Gorgoroth's history) going behind Infernus' back in September 2007, secretly applying for trademark protection of the bandname and logo of Gorgoroth, which Infernus started using in 1992. The court case has now finally been scheduled. It will take place in Oslo, Norway, in the last week of January 2009. As soon as the court has made its decision, further information will be found at this website.
It is also with great pleasure that it can be announced that Infernus' new Gorgoroth line-up has been completed. The identity of the vocalist, which may not come as a surprise to some, will be revealed in a few days. Hail Satan!

I am proud to announce that former Gorgoroth guitarist Tormentor has accepted my offer to rejoin the band in its new incarnation. As of today, Tormentor has the status of permanent member in the band, together with myself, Tomas Asklund and Frank Watkins.

In the past few months there have been several news stories concerning the dispute between Infernus and his former bassist and vocalist. Contrary to what the opposition might say, the trademark ownership matters are still as undecided as they were six months ago, and will not be resolved until a verdict is made in a to-be-announced trial in Oslo, Norway. Also, due to disagreements between Regain Records and the aforementioned former bassist and vocalist, a temporary injunction has been issued, suspending the distribution of the 'True Norwegian Black Metal - Live in Grieghallen' album until the matter can be handled in a trial in Malmö, Sweden.
All this has understandably led to confusion among the fans, and the focus seems to have drifted away from the musical aspects. It is therefore time to get back on track and release this little update on the progress of the next album, Quantos Possunt ad Satanitatem Trahunt:
The past few months have been spent rehearsing the new material in Tomas Asklund's Monolith Studio outside of Stockholm. A pre-recording has been made, containing drums, guitars and bass. At the moment, Infernus is working on the arrangements, with assistance from former Gorgoroth member Tormentor. When all the songs have been arranged into a satisfactory form, the drums will be recorded in Monolith Studio. Infernus will then record the guitars in the Laboratório 6 studio in Brazil, with engineering help from Fabio Zperandio (Ophiolatry), and Frank Watkins will record the bass lines. No vocalist has been added to the line-up as of the present time, but there are several strong candidates being considered by Infernus. So far, everything has gone according to schedule, and the album is tentatively scheduled for a spring/summer 2009 release by Regain Records. An autumn 2009 tour is in the planning stages.

"Recently there have been certain vile rumours and speculations circulating about me, which I now once and for all want to bring clarity to: I personally am against racism in both thought and practice, and Gorgoroth will never have any racist agenda as long as I have a say in it. Since it has come to my attention that certain Norwegian anti-racist organizations have been doing background checks on a former bandmate, I felt that I should make my view on this matter clear. As for any previous Gorgoroth members' unsavoury attitudes on this subject, I would of course feel it would be unfortunate if any personal attitudes were to have negative consequenses for the band, but I would also understand and accept that people would react strongly to this."

Footage of Gorgoroth's infamous February 1, 2004 concert in Krakow, Poland will finally see the light of day! Metal Mind Productions will release the first-ever Gorgoroth DVD, entitled "Black Mass Kraków 2004", featuring the legendary Polish concert, on June 9 in Europe and June 10 in the U.S. Gorgoroth drew the attention of the international media in early 2004 after their show in Krakow. They were accused of "offending religious feelings" during the gig, as well as suspected of breaching Polish law concerning the protection of animal rights by using severed and impaled heads of sheep as part of their stage design. The controversial concert in Poland resulted in the group being investigated for the possible breach of Article 196 of Polish penal code concerning offense of religious feelings (the maximum penalty for breaching this article is five years in prison). The Norwegian band, which is widely known for its antichristian ideology, had promised on their website that the Polish concert would be an "amazing show with lots of pyro, gallons of blood, live crucifixion and nude models." Despite this, the employees of the Krakow branch of TVP claimed that they had no knowledge of what the musicians and the promoters had in mind until they saw the actual performance. The concert, which was recorded at the studio of a TV station in Krakow, "was never meant to reach the media," according to the band’s vocalist Gaahl. "Producers Metal Mind Productions bought the sheep heads at a butcher shop. We weren't involved in animal torture of any kind."
In one of the band's first interviews after this controversial concert, Infernus told Canada's Unrestrained! magazine, "We didn't plan to really have an outcome like that, our only intent was to go there and film the DVD. All the chaos and media reaction that came from this was a surprise of sorts." Asked if they "were worried when the authorities were called," Infernus answered, "Not worried, really. I mean, what was the worst thing they could do? Destroy the tapes? I don't think they would do that and I don't think they could really do any harm to us, though they might be able to put the Polish producer away in prison for a few years. For us, this will probably help us sell a few more records. As of now, I can only think that the DVD will be put out eventually. It would be almost like they are stuck in the Middle Ages in Poland if they destroyed the tapes by burning them. I hope to get them back one day… I hope." The "Black Mass Kraków 2004" DVD will contain the Krakow show as the main feature. Additionally, it will include bonus video material performance footage recorded live at the With Full Force Festival in Leipzig, Germany in 2000, biography, discography, photo gallery, desktop images, weblinks, Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound and more. The DVD will be available in two versions: as a standard DVD and as a very unique star metalpack DVD edition limited to 5,000 copies.

Infernus' former colleagues did not accept the offer that was made on March 4, 2008. His attorney will therefore, on March 14, 2008, appeal the Norwegian Patent Office's initial decision, and also commence legal proceedings in order to have the matter handled by the courts. If everything goes as planned the case could go before the courts in June this year. Infernus is considering not only taking the band name conflict before the courts, but also the matter of certain allegations and untruths propagated about him.
The past couple of months Infernus has been busy travelling abroad to meet with his new band members as well as a new producer, and he has also been working on the forthcoming Grieghallen live album, to be released on Regain Records. Some aspects of this live album will probably come as a surprise to both the fans and others. The material for Infernus' next Gorgoroth album, "Quantos Possund ad Satanitatem Trahunt", is finished, and what remains now is doing the arrangements and starting rehearsing the material with Asklund and Watkins. Rehearsals will begin as scheduled in May 2008 in Monolith Studio, Sweden. The aim is to record the drums in this studio in August, 2008, and then use the Laboratório 6 Studio in Brazil (Ophiolatry/Fabio Sperandio) for the recording of all guitars and bass a few months later.

Infernus has now chosen to present his new line-up. This new line-up consists of dedicated and serious musicians with healthy attitudes and personalities, musicians whom he has had the honour of being acquainted with for some years now. Infernus has high hopes and ambitions for his future collaboration with these musicians. Tomas Asklund (Dissection) and Frank Watkins (Obituary) should need no further introductions. The work on "Quantos Possund ad Satanitatem Trahunt" will continue according to schedule, and rehearsals will begin in Stockholm in the summer of 2008. In the pre-production stage, Infernus will enlist the help of, among others, Tormentor, who wrote the title tracks of both the "Destroyer" and "Incipit Satan" albums. As with the latest album, and the forthcoming albums, "Quantos Possund ad Satanitatem Trahunt" will be released by Regain Records.
As previously stated, the legal proceedings which have already been instituted will continue as planned. Infernus and Regain Records have decided to appeal the decision of the Norwegian Patent Office's 1st department, and this appeal will be independently handled by the 2nd department of the Patent Office. It is important to point out that as long as this matter is under appeal, the current ownership decision is not in any way final. Infernus and Regain are also ready to take the artists formerly known as "The Force Gorgoroth" to court. Seeing as how the 1st department's decision is being appealed, and that the trademark ownership is as yet unresolved, it would be prudent of 3rd parties like record labels, booking agencies and online social networking websites to wait the situation out until a final decision has been reached - this to avoid any future litigations from Infernus and Regain Records.

"I will here present you a press statement which is my intention to be the last in the line of short open letters to the media, where I have informed fans, friends and co-workers on the somewhat strange situation that occurred some one and a half week ago and its progression until now.
"First, I will open with a short summary for those of you who did not get it all from the beginning.
"Late Friday afternoon, October 19th, I got to know that my former band members had made the decision that we should split the band and that their intentions were to continue — without me — under the name and logo of Gorgoroth.
"That people get tired of each other or have reasons for not getting along after a quite long and at times pretty close partnership I find fully natural and understandable. It goes without saying that you learn to know both each other's positive and negative sides. I will nevertheless not participate in any open discussion on the nature or personalities of anyone involved; that is well below my standards. Neither will I do anything to defend myself against whatever accusations people might come up with in a situation like this.
"I have a strong belief that people are able to judge themselves, based on the chronology of how things happened, and from the actions that have already been taken.
"When being told that we should split ways, I immediately proposed that we should do the European tour as planned, then let lawyers do the legal discussions for us, settling the question of ownership of the band's name and logo.
"As its founding member, building the trademark in the formative years, and with a clear intention on keeping the pact with the devil I made in Sunnfjord, 1992, I would, of course, not agree on giving away the name i rightfully own to our third vocalist and sixth or seventh (!) bass player for whatever reasons they might have.
"The vocalist has been considering quitting the band numerous times. The other actually quit last year due to difficulties combining playing in a clear-cut Satanic metal band as GORGOROTH with the fact that he is full-time employed as a primary school teacher.
"It was my intention to do the tour and then, after the tour, come to terms with the legal problems as smoothly and professionally as possible.
"I am sorry for the European audience which at the moment must witness this embarrassing circus it has become, and I am sorry for the Russians and Ukrainians we were supposed to have done a mini-tour for from 23rd to 28th of January.
"Late Sunday evening, October 21st, I received a text message from the vocalist stating that the November tour would go on without me, and that they had consulted legal advice on the matter and that next day they would release a press statement on the issue.
"To keep things straight, I will focus on legal matters here.
"It took me ten minutes to get confirmed that what they did was of a highly illicit character. According to Norwegian law of March 3rd, nr. 4. 1961, § 2 & 7 it is. It is also difficult for me to see how they thought it was possible to achieve what they wanted by doing what they did.
"Next morning I contacted attorney Egil Horstad from Vogt & Wiig. In a letter to their legal representantive he presents the case and parts of the paragraphs, which is now translated into English and available to whoever's interested at this location. It also refers to one of metal history's worst cases of backstabbing and greed to date.
"The same Monday I got confirmation that the bass player already before we went on the September tour to South America — without informing me — applied for copyright of the name and the logo. It seems like he actually believed it would be as easy as that to get it transferred to himself as his own personal belonging ad infinitum! It is available to the reader at this location.
"Regarding the upcoming European tour, which it seems that they intend to do in the name of GORGOROTH: I have personally been in touch with Henk at Vain Productions offering him a good deal if he would delay it, until i have a new lineup ready. And my lawyer has explained to him the possible legal consequences of him making the wrong choice in this situation. I am convinced they could be able to start up a new and rather good band on their own, and he should rather do a separate tour for that band, whatever else they would choose to call it.
"Now for my future plans: I will devote myself 99% to the present situation and the mess that occurred to help getting clarity in it and to take whatever legal action towards whoever is exploiting the name and reputation of the band. This includes some certain third parties, as there seems to be a few rotten apples among them. This is a necessity for me at the time being, so that I am sure who I can trust when starting to restructure and plan my return. I am afraid this might have to take the time it needs.
"I promise for Satan that I will come back, and I am already now at an initial stage consulting possible future partners, including a new lineup for studio and live. So far both ex-members and other more or less sinister musicians from Norway and abroad have shown interest. Choosing the right partners will be difficult, as I have high demands for these. I will update the world on this when the time is right.
"First things first. When the legal matters are properly settled, I will implode for a while letting media be an arena for other ones. During restructuring I will finish off the writing of new material for the next studio album — 'Quantos Possund Ad Satanitatem Trahunt' — to be released through Regain Records. In between 50 and 70% of the music has already been written (some of it even pre-recorded) as goes for two or three lyrics.
"For the rebirth of the live band it is considered necessary to get this done first, as it is my intention to erase as much as possible of the traces of the last years' periods output. The new live band will focus on old material and brand new and shall in one form or another by Satan last for another 15 years!
"That is about what I have to say at the moment. I will only accept doing a few select interviews and these should be requested via Joerg Brauns at Regain Records.
"I will use the opportunity to not only thank the faithful and dedicated fans around the world for this seemingly endless support I have received the last week, but also Joe Hollow, Satannichen, Frank Watkins and the OBITUARY guys for letting me use their networks and capacities in this time when i do not have access to my own website or even the band's MySpace.

According to Polish media Tomasz Dziubiński, the owner of the production company Metal Mind Production, has been fined for organizing Gorgoroth's controversial live performance in Krakow 2004. The text below is an English translation of a receent news article from Gazeta.pl (Polish):
"Tomasz Dziubiński will have to pay a 10 000 PLN (€2500) fine for organising a concert where infringement of religious feelings took place. During the gig of the Norwegian band Gorgoroth naked people were hanging on crosses; satanic symbols, the remains of animals as well as fake blood were used in stage design.
The local court of Kraków-Podgórze fined Tomasz Dziubiński with 10 000 PLN (€2500) for infringing the religious feelings. The accused will also have to cover the legal expenses of 2000 PLN (€500). The court also adjudicated forfeiture of the concert tapes. They will be put in the audiovisual archive of the Jagiellonian Library. [...]
The charges named three cameramen as offended by the band's stage design. During the investigation the prosecutors acquired the band's statement, where they claimed to be unaware of the fact that their actions may infringe the religious feelings of Polish people.
According to an expert analysys, prepared by a theologist from Pope's Theologic Academy, the concert's stage design violated the religious feelings of Christians. The symbol of the cross, which was used there with naked bodies on it is an object of particular worship for Christians, and its combination with satanic emblems is obviously offensive for catholics.
During the investigation the accused denied his guilt, stating that he received the final project of the stage design from the band and he had no possibility to alter it. That was also his explanation in the court. [...]"

Gorgoroth was founded by Infernus in 1992 as a strategy to perpetrate sonic and spiritual violence upon the world in order to bring forth change in peoples perception of being therein. Thus, through metal music, Satans minister on earth summoned an avatara of the forces of darkness and did let it manifestate through a variety of attempts on creating what was perceived as ultimate black metal taking form on stage as well as in a variety of studio recordings.
During its first period Gorgoroth went through a lot of line up changes due to a much too prevalent lack of focus and of low will amongst the members. Also musical and ideological incompatibility as well as even suicide and imprisonments has been taking its toll. Nevertheless, the band came strenghthened through it with a fair amount of live performances as well as the albums Pentagram, Antichrist and Under the Sign of Hell on the curriculum vitae.
From the end of the 1990's the band changed and grew more mature, musically as well as consciously. With the devoted presence of the new full time members Gaahl and King, as well as a not a day too early achieved social and mental fundament for future work, a deal was inked with the german label Nuclear Blast and the band to a bigger extent adopted the position as a live performance act taking upon them several tours worldwide bringing its sinister presence and the word of Satan to new territories, all from countryside Norway Hell to El Salvador and even Poland. After the release of Destroyer, Incipit Satan and Twilight of the Idols plus some more courtcases and other hassle Gorgoroth are still standing and proving to be a force to be reckoned with.
Now, going through the most productive period in the bands history the synthesis of hard work and legal problems seems to have brought forth the best in these men, and anger levels and a wanting for a better result now seem higher than ever. With Ad Majorem Sathanas Gloriam it's again time for philosophizing with the hammer. It's a sign of an iron fist and a warning of another and more darker period to come.
In the name of terror and fear, fear of the powers of darkness: prepare for a coming of a modern day inhuman and non-secular Satanism channeled through the vehicle of metal music as only these infernal servants are able to.

Infernus appeals his case to the supreme court. As formerly mentioned, January 3rd Infernus had to face a trial on charges of participation in gang rape, kidnapping etc. Outcome of that was that he was found not guilty on all major points of accusation, but got convicted and received one year imprisonment for something that has been tried explained as gross negligence and/or sexual assault; he is ought to have known that the woman had been traumatized and raped by his friend, and should not have received some special treatment from her before kicking her out of the house. The recent Central American Tour was well received, and the fans were truly dedicated. Especially in the cities of San Salvador, and Guatemala. Regardless of early security issues, San Salvador crowds riled enthusiastically.
Mexico was also great! Unfortunately after a few gigs it became more and more apparent that problems were ever present, as a result the ongoing incompetence with the road crew, and in addition to technical problems, as well as gross systemic ineffectiveness caused in part of local organizers were too substantial to overcome with any success. Hence rendering the cancellation of our presentation, and key songs from our sets.
As a consequence of this ineptness we have replaced these organizers. Gorgoroth’s future posturing abroad will unleash to it's heathen black legions a fury unparalleled, that will consume you!

Gorgoroth made the headlines in the major papers in Latin America after performing a show which created big riots in San Salvador. The audience got so extatic over the presence of the first black metal act visiting their country that the situation got totally out of control. The secutity and the police could not handle the people outside the venue so they had to call in the special forces "del cuerpo de Proteccion a Personalides Importantes" (PPI). When the PPI reached the venue the masses of people not getting a ticket for the already sold out show kicked in the entrancedoor and lots of fighting between the audience began. The audience started to kick in doors and toilets, several injuries occured and major damages to the venue. The PPI decided in the end to use gas on the audience to get the situation under control. When Gorgoroth entered the stage 30 security people had to be on stage preventing the audience to enter it. The fighting maintained through Gorgoroths performance and the PPI and the police had to hold the audience inside the venue with firearms to get the band in safety. Gorgoroth came from the incident without any injuries.

The European "Twilight of the Idols"- tour have been a great succsess. Lots of people showed up at the gigs and Gorgoroth broke the venuerecord at two venues. Besides the technical problems at the show in Osnabrück, Gorgoroth delivered great shows and Khaoz Productionz showed themself to be a serious and reliable company which Gorgoroth will continue to work with in the future. Gorgoroth and their support act 1349 had to cancel all the local support acts because of lack of time, technical problems and the need for getting the crew to function at its best. This created a show with unholy norwegian black metal from the beginning to the end. Just the way it is supposed to be. Hail Satan.

As you might have heard and read, Gorgoroth have played two gigs in Poland during the last weekend, and they made it BIG!
One gig was played in Warsaw and one in Krakow. The Krakow show, which was to be filmed for an upcoming DVD featured four crucified and naked models (two women + two men), spilled with sheep blood. The musicians did their show in front of that setting and to complete the manifestation they all were surrounded by dozens of sheep heads and litres of sheep blood on the stage. A few minutes after the musically inferno had started one of the female models fainted and had to be taken down from the cross. Apart from that the show passed as planned. But as soon as the gig was over, the police appeared and confiscated all the recordings from Krzemionki TV. The police are currently investigating for a possible prosecution.
During the last days the band has been mentioned in media all over Poland and Norway and it seems to be spreading fast! And of course it’s safe to say that they have to expect inquisitions regarding this controversial gig in the pope’s country!

Our recent gig in Athens was a success. We played at AN-club for an almost full crowd. They were very civilized, but that did certainly not stop them from being truly enthusiastic at the same time. The only drawback was the poor organization. Not all equipment was in place as arranged. We expect improvements on these matters for a next time. All in all a great gig!

A special stage is under construction and there will be lots of pyro, gallons of blood, live crucifixions and nude models used and abused in the name of Satan. Unfortunately Disiplin was forced to cancel because of illness, but despite some technical problems our show was a success. The spectators were many in numbers and very enthusiastic, but because of the already mentioned technical problems they missed the two last songs. They'll get another chance within a not too long time...

This is the new official Gorgoroth website. The former website www.gorgoroth.com has been down for a while of various reasons. Our former webmaster had some problems with the registration of the domain, and that’s why we now use gorgoroth.org instead of gorgoroth.com. This site is a new version of the no longer existing gorgoroth.com and here you will find a larger gallery, biography, discography, downloads, interviews, discussion forum and lots of other interesting things.
We will also be more active on the updates on this site. (Latest news, pictures, info about tours etc.)
